The system map

The system map, at /help/system-map, shows how a record moves through the Workspace, stage by stage:

  1. Intake: what arrives, and from whom.
  2. Describe: the record and its context in RiC.
  3. Digital objects: its files and how they are viewed.
  4. Rights and access: who may see and do what.
  5. Preservation: keeping its files safe and readable.
  6. Review and publish: from draft to the public.
  7. Discover: the public catalogue and site.
  8. Share: open data, exports and federation.
  9. Research: the reading room and its researchers.

Each stage opens onto its parts, and each part onto its details, three levels in all. Every node that has a guide links to it, so the map doubles as a way into the Help Center: find where a task sits, then open the guide for it.

Reading it

The stages are listed in order across the top. Below, each is a heading you can open and close; the line beside each node says in a few words what it holds, often with the RiC class it is. Open as many as you like; nothing on the map changes your data.

Good to know

The map is a picture of how the parts fit together, not a list of what you may do. Your role still decides which screens you can open.

The map is kept as data in the Workspace (resources/help/system-map.php), written for the Workspace rather than copied from Heratio's, so it changes with each release that adds a stage or a part.
